- Ok-jeong: So you are the child named Dong-yi.

- オクチョン：私の目が正しかった。文字を知っていると思ったのだ。私は苦しい立場にあったが、そなたの手柄で助けられた。そなたに褒美を与えたい。何か望みのものはないか？高価なものでもよいのだ。欲しい物があれば何でも与えよう。
- トンイ：褒美などいただく訳にはまいりません。褒美が欲しかったのではありません。
- オクチョン：そうか。褒美を望んではいない。本心か。
- トンイ：はい、尚宮さま。
- オクチョン：それはがっかりだ。欲がないというのは決して良いことではない。なぜなのだ。そなたが賤奴だからか。賤奴には欲など不相応だと思っているのか。... 残念だ。そなたが不相応な夢を持ち、手に入らぬ物を求めたらもっと気に入ったのに。
- トンイ：尚宮さま。本当は私にも望みがございます。ぜひともお願いしたいことです。私にとって何より大事なことなのです。私のその願いが聞いていただけますか。
